About This Facility
Vancouver: The Gateway to Japan's Finest Ingredients
Vancouver's position on the Pacific Rim makes it the natural gateway for Japanese food products entering Canada. Our Richmond facility takes full advantage of this geography, receiving direct air shipments from Tokyo's Toyosu Market multiple times per week through our proprietary JapanFish Express service. This means that the bluefin tuna auctioned at Toyosu on Monday morning can be on a Vancouver chef's cutting board by Tuesday afternoon, a speed that no other Canadian distributor can match.
Our 25,000-square-foot Vancouver warehouse is equipped with multiple temperature zones, from deep-freeze storage at -40°C for premium tuna to precisely controlled 0-2°C rooms for fresh sashimi-grade fish. The facility operates its own fleet of 12 refrigerated trucks, making over 100 deliveries daily across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Whistler, and Vancouver Island.
Beyond distribution, our Vancouver office houses the company's culinary consulting team, product development kitchen, and quality assurance laboratory. This is where new products are evaluated, where chefs can attend tasting sessions, and where our buyers maintain real-time communication with their counterparts at Toyosu Market. For Vancouver's world-class Japanese restaurant scene, from the sushi bars of Robson Street to the izakayas of Main Street, True World Foods is the trusted partner that makes excellence possible.
